How to Get a Fast Repair Estimate by Text (and What Photos to Send)
By Alex Mosquera · Last reviewed October 2026
What to put in the text
- What needs attention, in a sentence or two
- Where it is: which room, inside or outside, which floor
- Your ZIP code
- Your timing, like "before we list" or "anytime this month"
- If you have several items, a simple numbered list
Photos that help most
- A wide shot that shows the whole area, so the setting is clear
- A close-up of the problem itself
- A shot with a tape measure or a common object in frame for scale
- Good light: daytime, or with the room lights on
- For a list of items, one photo per item, numbered to match your list
When a short video is better
If something moves, sticks or makes a noise, a 10-second video says more than photos. Doors that drag, cabinet doors that won't close and loose railings are good examples.
A text you can copy
"Hi Alex, I'm in ZIP 32803. I need help with: 1) a hallway door that won't latch, 2) two drywall holes in the bedroom, 3) old caulk around the tub. Photos attached. Hoping to get it done in the next few weeks."
What happens next
Alex replies directly with next steps. That might be a question or two, a time to come take a look, or a plan for the work. Estimates are free.
Common questions
Do I need to measure anything?
It helps but isn't required. A photo with a tape measure in frame is often enough.
What if I'm not sure what's wrong?
Describe what you notice: what it looks like, when it started and anything that makes it better or worse. Photos do the rest.
Can I send my request by email instead?
Yes. The estimate form on this site opens an email to Moss Maintenance with your details filled in.
